Diocesan Eucharistic Congress – A Place at the Table

As part of our preparation for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in June 2012 a Diocesan Eucharistic Congress will be held in Carlow on March 9 & 10. The theme is ‘A Place at the Table’. There will be a number of keynote speakers: Baroness Nuala O’Loan, Fr Michael Drumm, and Fr Peter McVerry S.J.  There will also be a wide range of workshops [32 in total], taking place in the Cathedral, Carlow College and the Cathedral Parish Centre. Youth Congress

Young people aged 16-25yrs are invited to take part in the Diocesan Youth Congress being held in St Leo’s College, Carlow on Saturday 10th March from 9.30am to 7pm.  The Congress Day will include a variety or music, workshops, talks, drama, prayer and much more…If you are interested check us out on Facebook at KildareLeighlin YouthCongress or at www.kandle.ie Brochures are available through the parish and on the website and online booking is available at  www.kandle.ie/congress Booking is essential and everyone is welcome.

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated every two weeks.

Requests for baptism must be received at the Parish Office not later than two weeks before the actual baptism.

 

Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes

The parish pilgrimage to Lourdes will commence for five nights on Monday 17th September 2012. Cost per person is €719. Contact Bréid Murphy at 860218.


Allen Parish Finance Committee

A meeting of Allen Parish Finance Committee will be held in the Parochial House on Thursday 16th February at 8pm.

 

Youth Ministry

The ‘Together We Welcome the Spirit’ Confirmation Programme continues as follows:

Allenwood Schools: Tuesday 7th February 8pm to 9pm

Scoil Bhride Milltown: Wednesday 8th February 8pm to 9.15pm

Allen NS: Thursday 9th February 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

Robertstown NS: Friday 10th February 7pm to 8pm.

The cost of the programme is €6 per pupil which should be given to the leaders.

Enrolments – We are now taking enrolments for the school year September 2012 - June 2013. Enrolment forms can be collected from the school office from 9am - 3pm or by phoning 045-860826.

Information Evening - PRH

PRH is an international school for the personal development of adults, offering education on how to be yourself; how to manage your life and your relationships better; how to access your unique positive core of goodness, wisdom and strength. Alzheimer Society of Ireland Coffee Morning

A coffee morning will be held on Wednesday 8th Feb in Mullaney's in Robertstown from 9.30am to 12 noon. All proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

GAA: Senior training is in full flight with the Aldridge Cup starting Feb 18th.

Minors have resumed training under the watchful eye of Kieran Dunne and Co.Best of luck to the Kildare team for the coming season, especially to Johnny, Shorty and Morgan.   Also best wishes to Shorty in the Sigerson Cup competition.

BALLYTEAGUE GFC

Clothes collection in Ballyteague next Wed and Thurs 8th and 9th Feb, 10am to 12 noon and each evening 7 to 8pm.  Bring along all your unwanted clothes, bed linen etc and help raise badly needed funds for the Club.

Membership is now due, player €50, single member €30, couple €50, student €20, OAP €20, juvenile €10.  Family membership also available.  Early bird draw for all memberships paid up before 28th Feb.

Registration night for all members including children on Tues 6th Feb, 7.30 to 8.30 in the Club.

The Club hopes to run a referees course for underage referees and mentors. Contact Marie Jacob if you are interested.  Open to paid up members only.

Club Social on St. Patrick’s night in the Clubhouse with presentation of the annual club awards and re-uniting the Junior B championship winning panel. Come along for a great night of music and craic.

MILLTOWN GFC

Awards Night: The Club Awards Night will be held on 18th February in the Milltown Inn with entertainment being provided by the ‘Tops of the Parish’ winning team. These entertainers are preparing furiously so do your best to get out and support them. Tickets available from any Committee member.

Club History: The Club will be 125 years old in 2013 and this will mark a fitting tribute to the efforts of club members down through the years. The Club History Committee are still actively seeking photos, memorabilia, etc. Contact any club member if you think you might have something of interest, even if it is not directly GAA-related. It promises to be a fascinating account of the club and the wider area.

Lotto: Please help your club by supporting our Parish/Club Lotto. Tickets are available from David's shop in Milltown, John Murphy & Noel Dunne in the clubhouse each Monday night 8pm or any committee member. Results can be found each week on our website. All support is appreciated!

Dowling Cup: The pre-season tournament is due to begin on 18 February and our group opponents are Rathcoffey, Clogherinkoe and Ardclough. Fixtures should be available next week. The team are training away under manager Alan Dignam.
